Individual and Corporate Offerings

The PAVE-SCAN project aims to develop an EGNSS-based hardware/software solution and services for the low-cost automated assessment of roadway transport networks using low-cost sensors (vibration, gyroscope, OBD, LiDAR), participatory sensing, computer vision, and machine learning.

A central element of the PAVE-SCAN offering is providing continuous information on roadway pavement anomalies, which is valuable for the efficient monitoring of transport infrastructure and for public safety. Further key project aspects/offerings are as listed below:

  1. Near-real-time analysis and classification of roadway anomalies,
  2. Geospatial mapping of transport infrastructure, roadway anomalies and condition-assessment heatmaps,
  3. Key performance indicators (KPIs) for the studied roadway networks,
  4. Improved roadway management practices, prioritization of public works and lower costs,
  5. Reduction in the transport-related environmental footprint through improved O&M of transport infrastructure and of mass transit,
  6. Reduction in roadway-assessment costs by utilization of a fleet of vehicles/buses as participatory sensors,
  7. Integration with existing national transport initiatives, such as the ‘National Single Access Point’, and with ‘Digital Twin’ platforms, for (a) dynamically updated regional roadway-condition models, and (b) improvements in transport safety through calibrated traffic models, line-of-sight analysis, and roadway improvements,
  8. Open-access data and APIs.
PAVE-SCAN’s EGNSS-compatible sensor system is available as a Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) and offers the following advantages compared to products available on the market:
  • Classification of key roadway anomaly types (potholes, cracks, depressions/bumps, rutting) with accuracy/ precision rates higher than 90%
  • PAVE-SCAN decision-support system, with several measured and ML-driven KPIs
  • Open-data ecosystem (architecture, APIs, data)
  • Improved roadway management practices, prioritisation of public works and lower costs
  • Geospatial mapping of transport infrastructure, roadway anomalies and condition-assessment heatmaps
  • Reduction in the transport-related environmental footprint through improved O&M of transport infrastructure and of mass transit
  • Reduction in roadway-assessment costs by utilization of a fleet of vehicles/buses as participatory sensors
  • 20% savings in bus O&M, per year & 20% savings in pavement O&M, per year
